About Homestead
Florida.
Homestead is a city located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, USA nestled
between Biscayne National Park and Everglades National Park. As of the
2000 census, the city had a total population of 31,909. As of 2004, the
population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 37,957.
The city of Homestead
lies at the southern terminus of Florida's Turnpike, where this highway
ends at its junction with US-1. Homestead is immediately adjacent to Florida
City, and these two cities comprise the greater Homestead area.
A noteworthy tourist
attraction is the mysterious Coral Castle, built by a jilted lover, Edward
Leedskalnin, over the course of 28 years from 1923 to 1951. ref. The Fruit
and Spice Park is also of interest.
Homestead bore the brunt of Hurricane Andrew, a Category 5 hurricane,
which hit South Florida on August 24, 1992. From 2002 through 2005 the
city has experienced a building boom due to scarcity of developable land
in north and central Miami-Dade County. Movers in Homestead, FL
